Modern humans attempt to rationalize the value of the symbolic language of the poets, and of Beauty itself, out of existence when it comes to healing, but this is precisely the disconnect that is causing so much dis-ease in these modern times.
Because the truth is, the language of Beauty, and all of the imaginative ways that humans have evolved to make meaning of their experience of the world is all part of a greater process of healing the inner and outer divide.
Whether it is a division between Matter and Spirit, the Self and the Other or Life and Death…
Beauty is a by-product of metamorphic change.
I think about the caterpillar having to reconcile with Death itself in order to become the stellar butterfly it was destined to be. It must surrender it’s grounded, earthen existence in order to embody its ethereal, spiritual existence as a winged expression of Beauty itself…
What a poetic image of transformation!
Or the volcano having to reconcile with all of the death and destruction it will inevitably cause as a prelude to the exponentially lush, fertile Beauty that springs from it’s once desolate path…
What a powerful story of Life surrendering to Death to ensure more and more life to come!
These times we are living in consistently invite us to contemplate the two faces of Death…
One which breaks down, and the other which liberates. And to remember, that whichever face one sees is only a matter of what one expects to see from Death.
What needs to die in order for a deeper interchange with life to unfold?
Transformation is calling and we are invited to meet that call with the deepest, most tragically beautiful parts of ourselves as if they are being given a sacred opportunity to commune with the liberating force of Death itself— to be set free from their tragedy.
This is alchemy in practice.
Many blessings,
Anna
