Hekate is one of the only female psychopomps (traveler between the heavens, earth and underworld) in mainstream mythology. As such, she guides souls between the worlds, and in this way, rules over childbirth and death. Because she is so skilled at moving where she needs to be, Hekate also rules over the crossroads— the literal and metaphorical doorways, thresholds, forks in the road and situations where important choices need to be made…

She asks us, “What path is going to lead you home to your true Self?”, knowing that more often than not, our true selves are on the other side of an underworld journey. When we have the privilege to see her sacred flames, we know we have an opportunity to grow, to expand our consciousness— to awaken the dormant Self— no matter how hard the ego or suppressed parts of ourselves may try to resist it.

Holding her twin torches, she is ready to bring greater consciousness to the threshold moments before us— those precious moments that serve to connect us with and awaken the truth of the Soul…
