Carl Jung used to ask his patients to draw a mandala everyday in order to more deeply understand the state of their psyches while he was working with them.

Because the mandala is a symbol of the Self, each one is a visual representation of the current state of the artist.

Over time, he would be able to observe the shifts and transformations that had taken place based off these drawings.

There have been several times in my life that I committed to draw a mandala every day. I have thousands of them, and this practice is calling my name once again…

I can say without a doubt that when I’ve engaged in this ritual I have moved through huge leaps in my journey of self discovery. It has made me much more self aware, particularly because it has created a meditative space for me to slow down long enough to truly experience who I am in that moment of pen to paper.

It is like a visual journal entry…

If you were to draw a mandala right now, what would it look like? What would it feel like?
