Jung tells us that the transcendent function becomes present when we practice sitting with the tension that arises from the motivations of both the conscious and the unconscious self.
Both sides must be acknowledged and neither can be diminished.
Despite this deep inner work, this new moon comes with a feeling of respite; for it’s when we pause to bring consciousness to all sides of our experience, like taking in a deep breath that fills every crevice of our being, that the transcendent function has a chance to ignite.
The unconscious speaks through the disturbances in our lives. These disturbances can look like memories surfacing, bodily discomforts, potent dreams, emotional tides, and external ques.
The reason we get stuck, whether it’s in old patterns or in a certain position in life, isn’t because we’re fated to those patterns or to our circumstances. It’s because the outer self, that which we identify with, needs the information that only the inner self holds in order to know how to proceed.
When we are bound to a dream or desire and it doesn’t unfold, you can be sure that there is valuable information residing in the deep recesses of your being that is aching to be acknowledged, integrated, and brought into harmonic balance with the material of the conscious self.
This Full Moon in Libra is asking us all to level the playing field and enter into dialogue with that which is behind the disturbances of our lives— to ask ourselves, “what tensions am I holding”, and to ask them what their motivations are. This creates the necessary atmosphere of mediation that opens the door to what may be born through their union.
As we hold the tension of opposites in equal measure, a new attitude, a new truth, a new function will arise— initiating an inner and outer renaissance.
