Description

If she were to be likened to the planets, Ishtar, the goddess of divine kingship, would herself be best represented by the Sun, the generative, unconditionally giving and life affirming force which creates roles for all others and which grants authority to others.

Ishtar, the most ancient Mesopotamian goddesses, exudes command, sensual prowess and divine power. In this image, she drapes herself over the living throne of her iconic familiar who is representative of the Sun in his sign of exaltation, Leo, with a compassionate, yet sovereign air to her.

One of the most important roles that Ishtar plays in myth is through performing the sacred marriage rite, where human and divine were ritually united in the anointment of a new king. This marriage symbolized the union between heaven and earth, creating the “divine child”, fit with the untouched imagination needed to embody such a role. In the throne room of the Sun, Ishtar uses her emblems of the rod and ring to crystallize this unity between opposites…

Like any true leader, creator, or even like the Imagination itself, the Sun gives of itself freely and totally. There are no conditions and no limits to it’s love; it shines and bestows its power in a fierce continuum knowing that everything feeds on and depends on it’s light.

This visual talisman is intended to invoke the spirit of Ishtar and Leo, promoting the creative power of the imagination and the solar radiance required to take command and become a true leader of one’s life.
